Eliza Karmasalo was born January 1978 in Babelsberg, Potsdam, Germany.
She grew up during the communist times in Sofia, Bulgaria. By the age of 4 she was actively drawing and painting and by 7 she was composing poetry. Her development was inspired by discovered objects, cosmic science, music, pirate shadows and lonesome cowboy figures.
Eliza's talent matured at design school in northern city of Raahe, Finland and later applied her capabilities as graphic designer for a major publishing house in Helsinki, Finland. There she formed her well known signature book design, embellished with flowers and rusty dirt.
After 6 years work in publishing, she joined the advertising industry, working as Art Director for high profile agencies. Eliza enjoyed having sole responsibility for her projects, a situation that required her to exhibit not only a high degree of creativity, but initiative, determination, organisation and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
In recent years, Eliza has led several exhibition projects with her art group 'Eva Brownies', as well as organising art events in New York, showcasing Finnish culture, art and design, projects for which she secured funding from the Finnish Government. She has interest in music, performance and film and collaborates in those fields with international artists.
Currently she is writing her first children book. She spends her free time dedicated to astanga-yoga and applying the butterfly effect in Berlin where she currently resides.
